Business Insider recently composed a list detailing the 10 NY-based startups deemed to be the most exciting, innovative and transformative in 2012. Some of the companies that made the list include:
- Flow – An emerging “big data” firm founded in 2010 by serial entrepreneur Eric Alterman. The platform offers simultaneous, up-to-the-minute data sharing and on-demand stream processing between hundreds of mobile and web apps at a time on a permission basis
- Fab – Founded by Jason Goldberg and Bradford Shellhammer, this e-commerce firm specializing in design products now has 1.5 million users and 140 employees globally.
- ZocDoc – allows patients to find and book doctor appointments based on specialty and reviews. It currently receives about 700,000 users monthly, and has raised over $95 million in funding
